First Steps when Planning a Wedding

Congratulations on your recent engagement! Now the excitement of wedding planning can begin. You and your fiance may be overwhelmed by the number of decisions that need to be made as you plan your Colorado Springs wedding. Don't worry - The Historic Pinecrest is here to help! Below we've provided some steps that need to be taken first. By planning the major decisions first, you won't feel so overwhelmed.

Pick a Date

The most important step to take, before moving on with the rest of your wedding plans is selecting a day for your nuptials. Consider contacting close family and friends to ensure the people you most care about attending can make it on that date. Once you have a date in mind, you can move forward with the next step in your planning.

Establish a Budget

Discuss your finances with your fiance and decide how much the two of you want to spend on a wedding. It's important to have exactly what you want on your wedding day, but a budget is also a great piece of information to establish up front. There are a number of estimated budget examples available to help you plan a number.

Find the Perfect Venue

Get ready for some fun when choosing a venue for your big day. Be sure to tour the venues in person to get a good idea of what the area has to offer for your wedding day. It can also be helpful to lock down a venue that has your date available as soon as possible. Whether you are after a rustic, natural wedding or a classy upscale venue, find a place to host your wedding early on in the planning process.

Select Your Wedding Party

You may have known who would stand by your side the day you get married for a long time or you may need to make a decision now. Many couples try to have the same number of attendants on each side for a symmetric look for the wedding. The fun part is coming up with unique ways to ask your bridal party to be a part of your big day!

Start a Guest List

It's important to know a rough estimate of the number of guests you plan to invite, especially when shopping around for different venues. Make a list of immediate family, extended family, friends, and other acquaintances that you wish to join you on your big day. This can also give you a good start when it comes time to make out invitations.

Now that you know what steps need to be taken first when planning a beautiful wedding near Colorado Springs, you can relax a little. Planning a wedding is a fun process and you shouldn't feel too intimidated - simply take it step by step and enjoy the adventure. Make a List

To start, make a checklist of decisions that need to be made, as well as other tasks that should be accomplished, before the big day. You can get some great wedding planning ideas on Pinterest! There are also a number of time frame lists that can be found, to help with your checksheet of tasks. This list can help you stay on track, for what you need to do, at what time you need to do it.

Divide & Conquer

Once you have your checklist made up, it's time to take action! Divide your list into a time frame, to get a good idea of what needs to be complete by what time, depending on how far out your wedding day is. Recruit reinforcement to help you accomplish your upcoming tasks. Whether it's help the day of the wedding or a craft session with friends beforehand, to get your decor made, your friends and family will be eager to help you prepare for your big day.

Stick to Your Schedule

Once you've nailed down a schedule of when certain tasks should be completed by, try to stick to that closely. This can help avoid a pile-up of items that need to be completed, at the last minute. Your schedule should allow adequate time for all tasks to be accomplished, to help reduce your stress level, as your big day approaches.

From making decisions about your big day to orchestrating your bridal party to making it all flow smoothly on the day of, staying organized can help a TON! Tell Your Love Story with The Perfect Wedding Songs

Sometimes it's not the song that makes you emotional ... it's the people and things that come to your mind when you hear it ... - Unknown

Just like your brain recalls memories from specific scents, your brain will recall memories, even many years later, associated with songs. Choosing your wedding songs is a special way to incorporate sentimental details into your wedding, but also save that same sentiment to enjoy years later. At the Historic Pinecrest, we know that planning your wedding can contain so many details, but that's why we want to help you cover everything. Here are a few of the ways you can choose your songs, and what types of songs you'll need.

Important Songs To Have

As you plan your wedding songs, there are key parts of your wedding that will need music. For those areas, make sure you cover any specific songs you want to be played. For all of the other areas, allow your DJ to get creative, and if you have certain songs you want to be scattered around, let them know. Here are a few important areas you'll want to specify songs for:

Processional

Many couples choose songs that are sentimental for this part of the wedding. This will be the part of the wedding where your bridal party and you walk down the aisle. You can opt for traditional songs like "Here Comes the Bride," or Pachelbel's Canon in D. You can also choose songs from your favorite movie's soundtrack, or your favorite love song without the words.

Recessional, after I Do's Mr & Mrs

This will be the song that you and your party walk back down the aisle to. You can repeat the songs that you walked up the aisle to, or you can choose fun and upbeat songs.

Entrance Into the Reception for the Bridal Party and Mr & Mrs

Like the recessional song, you'll want something fun, upbeat, and exciting for this part of the wedding! This is where the bridal party and you and your new spouse get to make your fun exciting entrance!

First Dance

Just because you know you need to pick out a first dance song doesn't make it any easier. If you and your significant other don't have a special song already, there are hundred's of lists you can choose from. You can choose a song based off of the lyrics, or even use the season to choose a song.

Father/Daughter, Mother/Son Dance

There are many traditional songs you can choose from. Some are sentimental tear-jerkers, some can be funny and personal. Let your relationship guide your choice, and don't be afraid to be original.

From small weddings to large, choosing the songs for your wedding can be a fun part of your planning! While you're addressing and stamping the invitations you can turn on and online radio, select the love song channel and make notes on the songs you love. If you're looking for the perfect venue in Colorado Springs, we have a breathtaking chapel and a spacious event center where you can dance the night away.
