What to Know About Capturing Your BIG Day!

You've spent months, if not years planning this one day in your life. From the color schemes and dresses to the location and menu, there are so many details that make up one single event - but you plan every single one. The question is, how do you plan on preserving your wedding day? Here at Pinecrest, we see many brides who use several different avenues to capturing their day, so we're going to talk about the most popular!

Photography

This is one of the most common ways a couple will choose to capture their special day. You can hire a professional photographer or convince your cousin to come out and take photos. No matter who you choose, it's a wonderful way to look back and remember your day like it was yesterday. Photos have the capability of capturing emotions, feelings, colors and textures in a way that your mind won't likely store for the rest of your life.

From there, you can take your photos to a whole new level by printing them out for frames around your home, printing them on unique materials like canvas, metal or wood, or even making a book filled with all of those wonderful memories. You can even have your wedding photos preserved on blankets, ornaments, puzzles, coasters and more. The sky is the limit with ways that you can use your wedding photos later on.

Videography

Some brides and grooms choose to have a videographer there to capture their big day in an even more real way - video. While there may not be as many options to utilize video after the wedding, compared to photography, it provides a real life perspective of your day. You can hear voices, watch laughter and smiles, hear the vows you have made to your special someone, and see how much fun it was to watch grandma get out on the dance floor.

If you're looking for a good videographer in the area, we would be glad to suggest some to you as you plan your Colorado Springs wedding.

Other Avenues

There is still one other option you can take advantage of while you're capturing your big day, and that is from the guests who take photos. In a generation where social media and technology is so prevalent, unless you ask your guests not to take photos at your big day, they most likely will. Sometimes that can be a great way to get extra perspective, though! Create a hashtag for your event, make sure everyone knows about it, and then tell them to post away! This is a fun way to see their perspective, and get fun photos of individual guests that may not have made an appearance in the professional photos.

Pinecrest Event Center - It's Not Just For Weddings!

When many people think of The Historic Pinecrest, it's normally accompanied by thoughts of poofy white dresses, vows, cake, food, and dancing. While we definitely have ALL of those things, there is also a side of our venue that you may not have considered - we are an event center that is perfect for all events in Colorado Springs. We love hosting weddings, but there are many other events scheduled here throughout the week and year that we enjoy hosting just as much. If you need some ideas for your next event, here are ways we can help!

Auctions & Fundraisers

Have you ever thought about hosting an auction to raise money for your favorite cause? What about hosting a fun event, like a cake walk, a talent night, or a quarter bidding event? Our spacious event center is perfect for many different types of events, especially ones that would need a staging area. If you need a space large enough to fit 225 guests, while still maintaining the rustic charm that you love,  you can find it here at the Historic Pinecrest Event Center in Colorado Springs.

Crafting Events

If you are an avid scrapbooker, quilter, card maker, yarn spinning crafter, you know how much space it can take to spread out all of your supplies. Much less the supplies that belong you to and fifty other people with the same hobby! If you're looking for a venue in Colorado Springs that is perfect for your crafting bazaar, club, or yearly event, we have the space for you! Not to mention, we also have a stage at the front of the event center where you can have a speaker, demonstrator, or more. If you're having a smaller event, with few people, but still need space, our Lodge is also a great option, and it has rooms so you can stay the weekend!

Anniversary Parties

Just as much as we love celebrating weddings, we LOVE to celebrate anniversaries, especially of couples who have been married here. Our beautiful venue is spacious, comfortable, and perfect for your event. You can even rent out our mountain chapel in Colorado Springs to renew your vows!

Lectures

When you're hosting a lecture event or even a business training weekend, you want a venue that can not only fill all of your specifications, but you need a place that can appeal to the individual needs of the guests. Our venue has the large stage which makes it perfect for lectures, but it also has plenty of space so your guests can spread out. If you plan on having a long weekend of learning, there is also room in the back to have a caterer supply food for the event.

Best Venue for Events in Colorado Springs

We hope this was a great way to see that not only are we perfect for weddings, but there are so many other events that you could host here - and these just scratch the surface! Holiday parties, clubs, weekly meetings, the options are endless! Our beautiful venue not only meets your needs through the basics but when you step foot on our facility the beauty of the mountains will take your breathe away. Visit our website today to see how we can help you host the event of your dreams.

For the Bridesmaid With a Bump

First comes love, then comes marriage ... the comes a pregnant bridesmaid? It happens more times than not because as your circle of friends get older, and everyone is on different paths, some of them will likely show up pregnant to your wedding festivities. What a wonderfully exciting way to celebrate all of the different seasons of life! Whether you're the bride or the bridesmaid, here are a few tips for making it through the wedding events and details with your cute little bump.

What to Wear?!

When you're a pregnant woman looking for a bridesmaid dress, it can be a little disconcerting, because you either end up with a matronly maternity gown or have only a few styles to pick from that aren't YOUR style. There are a few ways you can ease this, by realizing you don't have to get a maternity gown! Look for fabrics that have a lot of stretch to them, and are light and billowy. If the bride is letting you pick out your own style in an appropriate color, that makes the job so much easier.  Also, look for gowns that have a flexible waistline. Empire waist will be the easiest to work around your growing bump, but there are a few others that can probably work as well. If everyone is wearing short dresses in the wedding party, you can get a floor length one and then hem it to the appropriate length so you aren't at risk for it being TOO short.

Plan For the Day Accordingly

Depending on how far along you'll be, there aren't too many things you can't do that you would have done otherwise. You can still help prepare for the wedding by crafting and decorating, just keep off of the ladders. You can help by arranging centerpieces, folding programs, or even volunteering to get a head start on the thank you cards!

While you're planning ahead, though, make sure that you will have plenty of water and snacks on hand so you aren't caught hungry in the midst of a busy weekend. You also want to schedule plenty of time to relax and put your feet up. Even if you have to step out from wedding decorating for a few minutes and take a small nap. Your heath is just as important as the wedding, and no one wants you going into labor during the vows!

Support Each Other

This is such a big weekend for both of you, and it will be a great time to make memories! While it will be a busy weekend, take the time to enjoy every moment that you have and support each other along the way. Don't forget, the best thing about a pregnant bridesmaid is that you will ALWAYS have someone to cry with!

This is such an exciting season, whether you're the bride or the bridesmaid, and we can't wait to assist you with this fabulous event. Our Colorado Springs venue is perfect for any wedding party, because from our lodge to our event center, you will find our facility to be perfect! Beautiful Wedding Color Schemes at Historic Pinecrest!

One of the most amazing parts of this career is that we get to appreciate and enjoy all of the beautiful styles of each and every couple. From romantic country to bold and eclectic we see so many styles and they always look perfect in our Colorado Springs wedding venue. At Historic Pinecrest, we love to see what you do with our venue, so we wanted to take a few moments to show you some of the beautiful color schemes and table decorations we've had recently so you can appreciate them as well.

Royal Red & Gold

This color scheme is absolutely perfect for summer and we LOVED how it turned out. Notice the beautiful centerpieces with red, yellow and white flowers emerging out of a mason jar, as well as the mirrors, candles and cute burlap and metal canisters with chocolate! Of course, everything was set off beautifully when you see the head table and cake table. The bright and bold sunflowers make a beautiful summer statement.

Delicate & Dainty Aqua, Peach, and White

This romantic country theme was offset beautifully by the color choice. In fact, they are very similar to the 2016 wedding colors Rose Quartz and Limpet Shell making this a very trendy compilation. We loved the exposed chairs with ribbons hanging off the back for a carefree and whimsical feel. Combine the lace, burlap, and rustic tree stumps on the table and you just felt like you were in a romantic fairyland. Such a beautiful use of this color scheme!

Regal Purple & Peacocks

There's nothing boring about this rich and royal celebration. From the beautiful peacock cupcake creation to the pearls, diamonds, and beautiful accents. The fresh flower centerpieces really make a beautiful statement in the clear round vases, and the pearls wrapped around them are the icing on the cake, so to speak. With the candles accenting this creative and romantic centerpiece the room was absolutely breathtaking!

Romantic Royal Blue

There is something so clean, crisp and beautiful about the colors and arrangments in this wedding palette. The dark blue lace against the white linens is striking and we love the combination. Of course, we also LOVE the wine cork table numbers! The tall vases with the twiggy arrangements are the perfect combination of height without blocking the view of the guests, and the powder blue hydrangeas, pink roses, and rich greenery make the bouquets so warm and summer feeling.
