21 Unexpected Wedding Expenses - Part 1

While your wedding is filled with wonderful memories, friends, and family, it can also be suprisingly expensive. Many couples prepare months in advance for the costs that with arise, from the catering to the clothing. Of course, there are a few expenses you may not have ever thought about when creating your budget. At the Historic Pinecrest, we want to help you navigate ALL of your wedding planning, and that includes the unexpected items that may arise. Here are a few things you will want to include in your budget now so they don't take you by surprise later on.

Postage

Postage can take up a large portion of your invitation costs, sometimes even up to half depending on the cost of your invitations and the quantity you'll be mailing out. Remember to included an estimate, and don't forget to figure in the cost of RSVP stamps if you'll be providing those.

Pre and Post Wedding Outfits

Who would think of this in the moment of budgeting? It just seems like a quick little shopping trip for that adorable dress you'll wear at the rehersal dinner! These are the types of things that will add up quickly though, so figure in a few bucks at the beginning.

Undergarments and Accessories

When you go to try on wedding dresses, you'll also be greeted with special undergarments, and these won't be inexpensive. Keep your budget in check by researching the costs of undergarments ahead of time.

Beauty Treatments

If you'll want to get your hair and nails done before the wedding, this can be a cost that you'll likely forget initially. When the time comes though, you may be feeling a little drained in the money department, and wish you had thought of this expense beforehand.

Hair & Makeup Trials

Many brides opt to go through a trial run of their hair and makeup, and this isn't generally considered a package deal with your wedding day styles.

Wedding Sationary (and we're not talking about the invitations!)

Programs, thank you cards, menus and more! There are many types of stationary to consider for your wedding, and you'll want quotes on them all ahead of time.

Lighting & Generators

For an evening wedding, you'll want to check with your venue about lighting and generators - especially if you'll be getting married outdoors.

Extra Decor

You can plan everything in advance, but no amount of plannning will help you prepare for last minute decor purchases. In many cases you'll start to decorate, only to realize that you definitely needed more candles for the reception talbes, and more greenery on the pews in the chapel.

Day-Of Coordinator

Whether you're planningo on having one or not, it can be a good idea to plan for one in your budget. After all of your wedding planning leading up to the day, you may realize that you want someone else to manage the day for you.

Extra Alterations

For most brides, your wedding dress will not come already fitted the correct size. You will probably need it hemmed at the very least, if not tucked in at the sides. Sometimes these alterations can cost at least an extra hundred dollars, maybe more, maybe less, depending on the person doing the alterations.
